They're full of it. Their own trend chart says Kerry 55 and Bush 42 by Nov. 2, and that's not even factoring in the undecideds!

First, he's not a fool, even though he is a Republican of sorts. He's also being careful not to get too close to Bush. Campaigning (outside of CA) with Bush won't tarnish his credentials in-State too much.
To get into office, he grabbed a wave -- Cali hated Grey Davis and Repub money was successful in manufacturing the recall.
Arnie is charismatic, pretty smart, has a great bio, and centrist opinions that -- on the whole -- Californians can swallow without gagging.
He's highly atypical of most CA Repubs (waaaaaay Right-wing).
