CA Dem Party: Yes on 72 (email)
The California Democratic Party urges you to support Prop 72 on November 2. This is a message from Yes on Prop 72.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear:

Wal-Mart wants YOU to pay Wal-Mart's bills.

Wal-Mart just donated $500,000 to defeat Prop 72 because they want to take advantage of YOU.

According to a University of California study, California taxpayers pay $32 million annually on health care for Wal-Mart workers. And Wal-Mart wants to keep it that way.

Wal-Mart stated in the LA Times, "There's no proof that any of our associates are on public assistance… I defy anyone to prove it." (10/23/04)

We need you to join the Wal-Mart Challenge!

We released internal Wal-Mart documents directing Wal-Mart employees to taxpayer funded programs. Former Wal-Mart workers testified to the fact that Wal-Mart pushes new employees into the Healthy Families program. "Wal-Mart shows us how to use taxpayer funded services at new employee orientations" said one former worker.

Hundreds of Prop 72 supporters - doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, clergy, and workers joined "Taxpayers vs. Wal-Mart" rallies in Los Angeles and San Jose.

Wal-Mart is lying and we're not going to let them buy their way out of this one.

We need you to contribute today to keep our "Wal-Mart vs Taxpayers" ad on the airwaves.

Prop 72 says that everyone who works hard and plays by the rules should get affordable health insurance. But Wal-Mart wants to pass the buck and make taxpayers pay Wal-Mart's bills.

Go to our website, http://www.yesonprop72.com/ make a contribution today, and email our ad to your friends and family.

Yes on Healthcare. Yes on Prop 72.

1. No doubt in my mind.
I have a friend who is an eligibility worker in SoCal. The clients come in (to apply for Healthy Families) stating that their employer, Wal-Mart, told them to do so! What liars!

2. I already voted for it.
Those TV ads make me so angry when they say businesses will pack up and leave California if this measure passes.

Ridiculous!! It only affects businesses that have more than 50 employees. A business that size is not going to pack up and leave. They might have to raise their prices a bit or cut back on executive bonuses to pay for the new benfit, but providing health care is the right thing for them to do.

IMHO
