Please read this if you subscribe to the LA Times |

Sorry to be the bearer of this Op-Ed piece if you haven't seen it already but, because they ran it, I'm canceling by subscription in the morning. Do the same if you also think it was completely uncalled for. < http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x2615512#2615831>

2. the times asked me why |
|
i cancelled and i told them i was sick of michael ramirez's cartoons. i also spoke to another guy who said they'd had lots of complaints about ramirez. i also got the impression that they don't have complete editorial freedom from their parent, the Chicago Tribune.
he said a lot of people criticize the times for being too liberal and almost choked in disbelief when i said it was too conservative.
i must write an email a day to them to bitch them out about something!

Why did you cancel your subscription?
Because it ran an op-ed you didn't agree with?
I prefer to hear all standpoints before I make my important decisions. I prefer more information over less--even if it's something I wouldn't normally want to hear.

4. The Times has always prided itself on posting opinions from both sides |
|
this is what some demanded from it.
Funny, though, no one expects right wing papers like the Orange County Register to post left leaning opinions, on occasions.
And this is true for us, as people. We, liberals, always try to accommodate opposing opinions. Certainly CNN - which many RWers call liberal - is trying to have opinions from both sides. But no one expects Faux news to provide a "balanced" viewpoint.

For most of its existence, the Lies Angeles Times was a fanatical right wing rag which loved to post "Industrial Freedom" on its masthead.
Only when Otis Chandler took control of the paper, the Times actually became a newspaper instead of a propaganda rag.
When Chandler was forced out, the Lies Angeles Times went back to its' right wing whoring. Look at the sleaze Michael Ramirez gets away with, in between his meetings with various White Citizens Councils...
I stopped reading the Lies Angeles Times when they covered up Oliver North's cocaine ring, which was documented by Gary Webb. The Lies Angeles Times, along with the WHORESHINGTON POST and SCREW YORK TIMES destroyed Gary Webb for exposing North's drug dealing. When all three of these liars did that, I lost faith in American media.
