How do we get rid of BBV in California?
I'm convinced the only way we can salvage our country is to replace the BBV machines we use with ones that print a paper ballot. I've donated money to Bev Harris at www.blackboxvoting.org, but it's clear to me that we need to go state by state.

California hasn't been a problem in Presidential elections so far, but who knows? Those machines could eff up some Congressional seats in 2002.

I'm sadly lacking in knowledge about the workings of state government and would like guidance about who I should be approaching and/or any state organizations like Bev Harris's.

Let's get moving on this. If we can take Congress in 2002, we can tie Whistle Ass's hands.

1. California is an initiative & referendum state, IIRC.
That'd be the place to start.

2. Lawsuits filed by citizens would be one way.
Wasn't EFF involved in some of these? I'm pretty sure they've at least filed briefs in some of the cases.

4. Continue to Convince Shelley . . .
who granted is embattled in a funding scandal and will very likely be well targeted by the Republicans in 2006. I live in Alameda County and I do take issue regarding our black boxes.

By the way, if Shelley still has problems, the Republicans will target his seat. If that person wins, then we could have our own Harris or Blackwell on our hands. Not in my state! If Shelley still has problems, he must choose to not run for re-election so another Democrat can get the position (one person who's considering running, Deborah Bowen, would be a good candidate, I'd argue. I remember her when I used to live in Venice, CA).

5. IN 2006 when K.S. is up for re-election, we will have a paper trail.
