California's been ruined by all those touristas who decided to settle here and turn it into selfishly hedonistic wasteland - instead of an individually hedonistic playground... :)
The noive of them, commin' out here and then bitchin' about the high prices and stand-off wing-nut politicing they caused just by coming out here and "staking a claim".
:hi:
Haele (Third generation Californista on both sides - yeah, the grandparents came out and settled in LA during the 1910's/1920's boom, but they defiantly became Californios during the Depression...and the 'rents tended towards the hippie lifestyle back before it was "popular")

I'd make an exception for Hawaii though. I'd live there if California sank into the sea.

12. Hey, it's the only state I know |
|
I'm a fifth generation Californian and I've heard the old-timers lamenting "Times have been better". Well, there's too much truth in that saying, and I want to change it because my nine-and-a-half year old son deserves better. Let's get to work.

I remember fondly my last trip to California (the previous one took place when I was a baby, but if I could remember back that far, there would be fond memories there, too). A wonderful, wonderful trip... although I fear that if I ever do it again, the experience will be disappointing. The last time, I was in love and that was my reason for going; it made everything more magical than it might otherwise have been.
Even so, a great place, and someday I will have to try to visit again. Pity your flag isn't as cool as Maryland's, though.

24. Texas has no monopoly on pride |

I'm glad to see some people sticking up for California. It is not perfect but no place is. I've lived in Los Angeles as well as currently in Austin. They are night and day different. California is by far the more beautiful state, better weather, more liberal politically and just all around cooler. Texas.. well, we have no state income tax.
