Poll question: Yes or no on keeping Art Torres as State Chairman |
There was a concern about having a chairman from one area for more than one term so the party required the chair position to alternate between a Southern and Northern California each time. To get around this, Art Torres moves every two years. He supported the propositions last March that put education and health care less behind tax cuts for the rich. This September he tried to get the Democratic Party to oppose 66 and support 69. He is a good friend of Michael Powell's and assured someone who was trying to get through a resolution to block the FCC changes that Powell would never support the changes Powell pushed through.

1. POLL DISCUSSION POINTS ARE SILLY |
Is this the only rationale to remove Art?
A chairman should (1) put the Party first and foremost (2) be a good organizer, manager and spokesman. Has Art not done this ?

2. A State Party Chairman should be on the Democratic side of the issues |
He seems to respect the opinions of Republicans (like Michael Powell) more than the opinions of Democrats. His support for 69 shows a real difference between his thinking and that of the rest of his party. He was so overconfident that we could defeat Arnold. But Arnold was not defeated and the party is totally unprepared to beat him in 06.
