Ramifications of Mitsui's death
Despite the obvious angst over the loss of one of our leaders, there becomes a new threat. The special election which will be scheduled in the Spring to replace him.

We already know that Arnold wants to redistrict California. And we know that because he talked about holding a special election to do so. http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/10404893.htm

An obstacle would have been the political capitol he would spend in seeking taxpayer support to fund that election; approximately $60 million according to the above article. Now that hurdle is passed.

Californians must become prepared to fight against whatever Arnold will try to ram through along with the Congressional race.

1. Californians must be ready to ... RECALL Arnie
Yes we were talking about this today at the local demonstration in San Diego... we must be ready to RECALL the Grubenator... it was a grab for power and they want to keep it for ever... redistricting is the way to do it for them.

2. Actually, isn't Sacto somewhat of a liberal city that elects Dems
on a regular basis.

Matsui's district looks as if it's mostly in Sacramento. And I do not think that redistricting could get through by the time the special election happens. So we might be able to get a democrat in there.

4. Yes
Matsui's district is 2-to-1 Dem. All the Repubs live to the east and northeast, in Carmichael, Fair Oaks, Folsom and Placer and Eldorado counties, where guys like Doolittle and Lungren get elected. Of course, maybe failed pubbie candidate Rico Oller can move to Sacramento and get foisted into office. But, really, it's Daryl Steinberg's race to lose.
