California's Ugly Skin Game: White-Bread Repubs, White-Hating Dems
"It should be a ripping good show in Sacramento in 2005, since the only place more torn by debilitating race, gender and cultural tension than the California State Assembly and State Senate might be a high school cafeteria seething with rival gangs.

I realized this when I saw two lists of recent appointments announced by Republican and Democrat leaders to top jobs and committee chairmanships coveted by state senators and assembly members in Sacramento.

To sum up, the Republicans are wallowing in the 1980's, still knuckle-dragging with a crew of white Anglo-Saxon Protestant men, only slowly adding women and minorities. Equally out of touch, in a different way, are the Democrats, stuck at an imaginary 1960's peace protest where Latinos, blacks, Asians and gays control things---and icky WASP men are quashed."

Any thoughts on this article? It's intended to be provocative, of course, but does it reflect your view of the California political parties?

2. Point taken
It speaks some truth that most of us don't want to admit. We either take a realistic look at the make-up of our individual AD's and respond accordingly, or we will continue to lose elections.

3. I have spent my whole life trying to not be a caucasion
for a bunch of scumbags who allways think they are the master race they are the masters of nothing but insecure dreams .I agree though it does get boring at times listening to Tasmanian Folk Music on Pacifica or the Grim & Eclectic Tofu Hour with Dr. Benway P. Furball. now don't be knocking the 60s because for about 14 minutes there was some hope of humans progressing into a class 2 galactic culture then T.V.s became cheaper. It is still a bunch of stupid ugly white men pulling all the strings behind this self destructive planet like Planet of the Apes # 23 staring Karl Rove and a cast of maggots. ignore me I am old and pissed off.

4. I found the article provocative...
...and I definitely was saying "yeah, spot on" when she was pointing out the whitebread Republican slant. Her analysis of the Democrats made, to say the least, uncomfortable.

5. what an utter bunch of crap
gods forbid that minorities have any say in the government

and its a bad thing that we now have a Latino speaker of the House but of course she doesn't mention that the last Senate leader and the current one are both straight white men
