Attention SAN DIEGO progressives!!!! |
|
Popular San Diego DJ totally berates DU - Calls us fascist pigs! http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=203&topic_id=298112&mesg_id=298112It would be nice if some locals who are familiar with Rick Roberts and his ugly morning show would send him and his higher-ups some words of wisdom. It seems he's bashing not only Senator Barbara Boxer and asking for her recall, but he's reading emails from people complaining aloud on air and giving out names. Peace! Nicki :)

Giving out names of people who wrote letters without their permission? Should the FCC be contacted?
I wrote a letter and personally don't give a shit if he reads my name or not (I'm in Ohio) but you locals shouldn't have to fear some sort of backlash from speaking and it sounds as if he's trying to instigate that.
Really, the FCC should be notified. I'm sure they would frown upon promoting violence.

it seems my email was read on air and my name was given out. I still need to find out if it was my *full* name. Another thing, the email was to two of his bosses, not to him. I didn't have his email address at the time.
This should be interesting.

8. Might be worth checking into. |

If he read you're full name, I think you may have a legitimate case for a complaint, though I don't know where your privacy ends once you send a letter. It seems to me they would have to have your permission.
Here's the phone number for the audio division of the FCC. They may be able to tell you what you need to know. Good luck. 202-418-2700 Fax: 202-418-1411

Roberts needs to look up the word fascist and it's meaning.

5. He's not known for his intelligence |
|
He tries really hard to be like Lie-baugh, but his ratings and personality is less than exciting.

12. I think his first hero is Michael Savage |
|
Right after Savage joined his station, he started taking on a "Savage" personality. I guess Savages' ratings outdid his.

14. Roberts is a Randoid... |
|
Typical San Diego "Libertarian with Republican leanings" that passes for moderate around here. Started out "light" and took a moderately progressive stance back in 1997/98 as a balance to Roger Hedgecrook, but showed his true Randoid colors after the NeoCons started writing the playbook at Clear Channel and he didn't have to worry about playing the foil for Hedgecrook's Opus Dei blather. His type loves the image the Shrub and his buddies show the public - those "Resolute, Quickly decisive Self-Made Compassionate Conservatives" (with lots of money and power as well as certitude, of course)that don't "nuance" or diplomatically compromise like those Quiche-eating, whiny Liberal Loonies that actually take time to consider the problems, have compassion and want to stop and help, rather than just judge and go on with their lives. It's "too hard" for that type to think beyond their immediate sphere of influence. As long as the problems of the world are someone else's and far, far away from them - they're happy to pass judgment and/or ignore them.
Sad - I actually used to like him, for the most part. He used to have a sense of proportion and actually would spend some time investigating his issues. But, after Sept. 11th, he bought the whole NeoCon agenda (that, or Clear Channel sold him the bill o'goods in exchange for his soul)and drank the koolaid, probably thinking that turning off his brain would show he's a true patriot and "Real Amurican". I am truly disappointed in him, something I would never say about Hedgecrook or Limpballs, who never showed they ever had an ounce of understanding to begin with.

13. The station also researched all emails to determine city of origin |
|
They were happy to announce that hardly ANY came from California. (Like that should make a difference)
