Floridians-are you getting tired of the 2000 Election comments?
Last week I attended a national conference in Weston, Florida for Business & Professional Women. Women were there from all over the continental US, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and several were attending from abroad. It was wonderful! Unfortunately, there were some comments made by speakers and other attendees about the 2000 election. Are we ever going to live this down!!?? Two, maybe three counties ran poor elections. I live in Orange County and we have optiscan machines and we had a perfect election. That is probably three in most of the other counties. During the election controversy in 2000 I heard and read about problems in many other parts of the country that I felt were far worse. Are you getting tired of all this too?

1. You're going to have to live with it for at least...
..three more months. Deliver Florida convincingly to Kerry, and everyone will shut up.

Otherwise, how can the rest of the country resist targetting Florida. It represents a shitload of electoral votes, it's run by a Bush, and the very recent felon purge is all incredibly bizarre, frightening, and backwoods shit for the rest of us.

Deliver the state, and all this will fade into our collective memory hole.

2. No
There is more then one issue involved with election 2000. Florida got the most news out of the problems so people can relate/understand the elections issues based upon what they heard/know happened in Florida.

We are the Poster child. But we are not the only child.

There are still problems with various voter machines. If people stop talking about electioin 2000, they loose their "what if's". Election 2000 shows WHAT CAN HAPPEN. People need to be seriously concerned and not avoid this issue. Stop talking about it, and it goes away.

NOTHING to be embarrased about. Seriously, you all ready know that this sort of stuff happened elsewhere too. If people don't realize that, I would be embarrased for THEM.

If we were the republican party, this would be in the news daily and we would be screaming until something was done... OUR WAY.

We have got to stop setting down and ignoring this stuff.

5. NO!!! I wish they would talk about it more. I wish they would talk
about the disenfranchisement of African-American voters in Duval County and the infamous voter purge, etc.
