How Many Congressional Districts will have Democrats |
|
on the ballot? I am in the 24th and it appears Fruitcake Feeney will be running unopposed. Is this true of other districts in Florida? If so who do we write in?

1. Feeney has a few challengers |
|
It looks like there's a college professor running on the Democratic side. However, it appears he will provide only a perfunctory challenge to Feeney. I'm not entirely sure if a Democrat will wind up on the ballot.
Crenshaw, feom the 4th, is running unopposed.
In the 21st, Lincoln Diaz-Balart is only being challenged by a Libertarian.

2. Feeney had his district drawn especially for him |
|
I wish there was more of a challenge to him, but the fact is that his district was specifically created to make him virtually unbeatable (he was speaker of the house when the district was created for 2002).
Last time, Harry Jacobs put an incredible amount of money and effort into the race and still lost badly. It is easy to see why no one would want to go through that and why the party thinks money and other resources would be better spent elsewhere.

3. Somehow I don't see Adam Putnam ever getting challenged |
|
Edited on Thu Apr-29-04 10:00 AM by SiliconMethod
In 2002, the only challenger backed off, and remember reading one of the Polk County Democratic executives say that Putnam can keep the district as long as he wants, or something to that effect. Honestly, I have no complaints about his agricultural interests, but the fact that no one wants to keep him honest by challenging him, that concerns me somewhat...
Then again I'm not presently in that area, so unless there was some recent news I probably don't know what I'm talking about.

5. I'm running in the 9th |
|
I got in the race late, and came up just short of the 4,200 petitions to be signed. Now I'm scrambling to raise $9,300 for the filing fee. Otherwise Mike Bilirakis will run unopposed unless Johnny Byrd sneaks into the race at the deadline on Friday.
Well, back to the phones.:kick:

I couldn't edit the earlier post, but my web-site is up and running now and should be able to take contributions by tonight.

If Kerry is stuck with an overwhelmingly Republican Congress he will be unable to get the country on the right track again.

10. And as crooked as a snake. |

If I recall correctly her hubby was arrested during the last election for removing and destroying her opponents' campaign signs. Somehow interceded and got him off the hook. I also remember her hubby was using her name as leverage to coerce clients in his business.

11. I hope we have a formidable challenge |
|
Brown-Waite won FL-5 with only about 46 % of the vote in 2002, albeit it was against an incumbent Representative.
This would have to be seen as a competitive race, especially if the Democrats put some resources into it.

Everyone, keep this thread updated. I'm in the process of compiling all the campaign information I can gather and keeping the activity here would be a great help! http://www.democraticunderground.com/cu/cu.php?az=house_races&state=FL

what it takes to get on the ballot? What do we have to do? I dislike Ginny also. She sure sprouts the party line about how good Bush is doing.

16. The filing deadline for President is different |
|
The May 7 deadline is if you want to appear on the ballot for the August primary. Nader won't be on the primary ballot, only the general election ballot on November, hence the later deadline.
