Why can't Chicago get a decent Democratic leaning newspaper?
All we have are right wing repuke rags. Editorially the Tribune and Sun Times are totally out of touch with the vast majority of Chicagoans that are overwhelmingly Democratic. They throw us bones on the op-ed pages but I'll guarantee you the Trib and Sun Times will endorse the chimp for reelection.

Cripes!

1. The country consists of 217 ADIs which are controlled by six....
....media conglomerates. They decide who gets the support.

4. Area of Dominant Influence (ADI) which is defined as.....
....that area in which 50% or more of the population receives the major media (TV/radio/cable/satellite) emanating from the Central location. It is based on economic criteria rather than political divisions. For example the top four ADIs in the country are:

New York
Los Angeles
Chicago
Philadelphia

However, the New York ADI is much more that the five boroughs of New York and extend onto Long Island, the upper half of New Jersey, the NE corner of Pennsylvania, upper Westchester county NY Connecticut and even Rhode Island. Sorry I don't have a specific link that identifies all of the ADIs, but here is a place to begin:

6. He said "major".

I'm sure The Defender is pretty liberal as well. Not to mention The Reader. But none of those qualify as a major newspaper.

8. Chicago Southtown
Well there's the Chicago Southtown, but maybe that's not a "major" paper.

Not really a leftist paper, but basically on our side.

13. you.have.got.to.be.kidding.me

Just shows the rich will vote for a complete lunatic if he's on 'their side' economically.

That's kind of funny, though - they're being made such fools.

11. Trib endoresment sample
46th District (Elmhurst area): Too bad Democrat Joe Vosicky doesn't live in Chicago, where he'd have far more like-minded supporters. The attorney is on the faculty of John Marshall Law School and the board of the John Howard Association prison watchdog group. He has sensible ideas for state government. Given that this is GOP country, though, he faces a mountainous challenge in running against Rep. Lee Daniels, a former House speaker and minority leader. Federal investigators have been looking into whether Daniels' staff used state resources to do political work on state time, an investigation that also is probing the staffs of state House Speaker Michael Madigan and state Senate President Emil Jones. Freed of leadership duties, though, Daniels has been able to focus on his worthy advocacy for community-based care for those with developmental diabilities. Daniels is endorsed.

TOO BAD he lives in the 'WRONG" PLACE? What the f**K?

12. Tribune endorses Bush
Edited on Sat Oct-16-04 11:03 PM by xray s
Damn you. The blood of every soldier, every innocent man, woman and child that is killed in Iraq by the bastard you endorsed today for president is on your hands.

Everyone who opposes the policies of the war mongers in Washington should cancel their subscription to the Tribune.

15. Tribune's hypocrisy
I personally love the Tribune's reporters and their stories on arts, entertainment, theatre, and their perspectives and book review sections are always great...but editorially, they have been full of shit since the 1930's...calling Roosevelt a disgrace as a wartime leader (how times have changed!) standing up for the cops during the battle of '68 AND when cops killed two Black Panthers in cold blood...it's funny how they hate Daley II, a guy who stands for gay rights and city beautification et al (not that I'm his greatest defender) and yet they kissed his dad's ass when he was presiding over the oppression of basic civil rights in the 50s and 60s...the Trib (and especially their loathsome "regular guy" dickhead John Kass) no longer has ANY credibility in my mind...you are 100 percent right...any newspaper that endorses Bush and his war has blood on their hands.
