scared to put Kerry signs in my windows |
|
I live across from a polling place and on a semi busy street. I just got 2 Kerry signs at the Obama rally and I want to put them in my window but I am scared of someone throwing a brick through my window or something to that affect?
Is anyone else going through the same thought process or have these fears?

You're the guy that lived across from the polling place!
I met you at the booth after the rally. I was the guy with glasses, black hoodie, black shirt with a Kerry button.
Put your signs up!

put them up during the day and take them down during the night.
I know how you feel. I live in condos and our shared parking lot is in the back of our units. I look out every day at a Jeep with a Bush/Cheney '04 sticker on the window. Of course, he has to look at two of my cars with Kerry/Edwards stickers  I'm not even going to attempt to put Kerry signs out (even my son's graduation sign from the school got stolen within hours). But we did put a Kerry/Edwards sign out on the bulletin board in the common area of our unit (thanks to hubby!!). The signs in the windows are going up tomorrow though!...even if we can't have them in the yards. :(
One thing, you might be surprised to learn there is support for Kerry in your area. Yes, there are radicals around these parts that are willing to do anything including property damage. But those acts just garner more support for your right to display voicing your choice.

15. yeah Rubin's a good guy, and he is working his ass off! |
|
I hope he runs again, assuming he looses. It is an almost imposable district, but he is doing a great job. He is articulate and well versed on the issues.

My neighbor threw up a Bush sign a couple days ago, so I ran out and found a Kerry sign and planted it right on the property lines. It's all out civil war.
Don't be afraid. Let em try something, at least you'll voice your opinion. If they put a brick through the window, board it up and tape the sign to the board with a big middle finger above it. I want my neighbor or someone else to pull some shit.

I put up Kerry signs, as well as signs for local candidates. Only one on my block--for either side of the ticket.

13. yes, very much so as I live in a highly GOP area |
|
I have gone back and forth on it like you. I also was thinking of putting the signs in the windows so they can't be stolen but then I wonder if my windows will get broken. And who pays for the windows? Me

Here in Skokie we don't have to worry about that stuff thank God, but if I were in Texas i'd still put my Kerry/Edwards sign up Damn it. This rich house down main st. put up a Bush/Cheney sign on their front lawn and days later 5 or 6 homes (literally almost the entire block) put up their Kerry/Edwards. Its a civil war and we will win come hell or high freakin water.

18. I Thank People In My Area With Lawn Signs... |
|
I've scared a couple, but when I see someone with a K/E yard sign or bumper sticker, I give a thumbs up and, if within vocal range, a thank you. Lots of smiles follow. The funniest was a trucker with a Kerry/Teamsters sticker on his big rig...he gave me one of those long toots on the NW Tollway...keep on truckin'.
Personally, since my home not on a major drag I don't have lawn signs...and there's a quiet gentleman's agreement on our cul-de-sac to shun signs. The only one who has a sign is the local Bushbot at the corner and for weeks had the stupid sign pointing at my house and not down the main street his house faces. Now he's sorta straightened it out.
We're kinda Chicago in reverse here in Pleasant Valley Sunday...the local Park District is the coven of the area GOOP patronage workers and you can tell how much they like or need their job by the number of obnoxious signs on their lawns. My favorite are the many with just the State Rep's sign...tells me they're pleasin' the boss and voting Kerry/Obama/Bean. LOL!
I'll say things out here have sure come a long way when my wife and I were some of the lone Democrats in Hanover Township...going to a polling place one year and asked for the Democrat booth to vote in and told "never had anyone ask for that before".

19. I read this and have to laugh about the last line. I was thinking of |
|
starting a thread about whether yard signs have any effect on anyone voting. I doubt if there is any evidence anywhere on the subject. I mean it makes me feel good to see Kerry and /or Dem yard signs but then I was going to vote Dem anyway. A Bush sign or a million Bush signs wouldn't make me vote for Bush.
