John Cullerton represents the 6th district which is the heart of Lakeview.

"A native of Chicago, State Senator John J. Cullerton, earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Loyola University of Chicago. Upon his 1970 undergraduate graduation, Cullerton continued his education at Loyola, earning his Juris Doctorate from university's prestigious School of Law in 1974. While a student, he served as President of the Loyola University Student Bar Association.

Cullerton began his career in law by serving as an Assistant Public Defender for the City of Chicago, while also teaching at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy in Boulder, Colorado. Cullerton served as a public defender for five years before entering private law practice in Chicago, which he continues today as a partner of Chicago's law firm of Fagel and Haber.

In 1976 Cullerton began his service in public office by joining the 1976 Illinois Delegation to the Democratic National Convention. In 1978, he was first elected to the Illinois General Assembly and served as a member of the House of Representatives for 12 years. Throughout Cullerton's 6-term career in the Illinois House, he served as the Speaker Pro Tempore and Democratic Floor Leader.

In 1992, Cullerton was elected to the Illinois Senate, representing the state's 6th Legislative District.
Judging by his long list of awards and recognitions throughout his years as a lawmaker in Illinois, Cullerton stands as one of the most respected members of the state's General Assembly. In polls conducted by the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Magazine, Cullerton was voted one of the "10 Best" Illinois legislators. The magazine described Cullerton as, "a brilliant politician who gets things done through diplomacy and a fine sense of humor." The Chicago lawmaker has also been honored with the Dan O'Donnell Good Neighbor Award from the Lakeview Council on Religious Action and the Prescott Bloom Award from the Illinois Child Passenger Safety Association. .... (continued)"

Does anyone have any personal experience with Cullerton they would like to expand on? Could anyone see him running for a higher office? He is my rep and I contacted him on an issue once and he got back to me right away.
