Who can we draft to run against Durbin in the 2008 primary elections? |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 01:59 PM by benburch
He just lost me, and I have been a strong supporter of him.
His Mentor, The late Senator Paul Simon must be spinning in his grave!

|
Second he won't vote against the Ohio electors.
I demand better.

Durbin has nothing to gain by waving his arms and jumping up and down.
The real fight goes on behind closed doors. And fortunately for us, we have Dick Durbin on our side. There was no hope of getting enough votes today to change the outcome of the election.
But the seed was planted. When Blackwell is indicted and the case is drawn into the public eye, everyone will have a better idea of what today was all about.

19. Blackwell getting indicted is a long shot... |
|
WE know he should be indicted and his sorry ass sent to jail. But it's in the hands of a judge in Ohio.

Get rid of one of the few people with balls in the Democratic Party. After all, eating your own is a sure way to success.

13. Dick Durbin is one of the most compitent |
|
members of the US Senate and of our party. Trying to defeat him is NOT going to solve anything. While you may not have agreed with what he said, you have to realize that it isn't in anyone's best interest to call for ousting him just because you have a disagreement with him. I agree with Durbin most of the time. But the times that I don't, I don't start finding a primary candidate.

14. I have no problem with what Dick Durbin did today. |
|
As someone mentioned above he got in a few digs and besides that I agreed with all Dems that today was not about overturning the election.
Paul Simon didn't spin in his grave today. He would have done the same thing our great Senator did.

15. Commence formation of the circular firing squad! |
|
A little realized thing about the Democratic party as a whole, and Illinois Dems in particular, is the belief that forming a circular firing squad is beneficial to election performance...
One of our least productive party habits, if you ask my opinion...
I'll be supporting Durbin, I believe.

would love to make us turn on Durbin for one of their snakes...no way jose. Durbin as the whip has to fight on winnable issues. Today was a confirmation of what everybody believes...we knew no one in the senate would stick their neck out, but Barbara "the champ" Boxer slip it in on the jerk and they were all over it. I think that just the fact that they freaked out about it shows guilt.

Yeah, I forgot that Durbin is the minority whip even! Yeah, let's just throw away that power that Illinois has. What a terrible idea this is.

at least they spoke out - I think I will forgive the vote -- was there any other state where both the senators stood to speak for an investigation? Sometimes you have to be ok with half the banana.

I understand your disappointment. I forgave in 2000 what I am not willing to forgive in 2004. I will withdraw my money, but not necessarily my vote.
