Is the Sun-Times worth a subscription?
I've picked up copies for the past couple of days, and I rather like their metro and state coverage, and they pretty much have the same AP wires as the Tribune - I would like to have a daily paper, and it's that, or the Lake County Sun, Kenosha News, or whatever the Waukegan paper is.

3. I love the fact that there are two threads about the main Chicago papers
One ask should I cancel and the other says should I subscribe. It's great. No wonder the Tribune started a new advertising campaign. I think the Bush endorsement hurt them more than they thought it would. It wasn't even the fact that they endorsed him as in how they said, "This guy screwed up badly, but let's give him another chance anyway". Such terrible logic, I expect better from my editors.

I like the Sun-Times. I haven't subscribed because I don't have time to read the paper, but I would love to read a hard copy instead of articles here and there online. I have noticed that their local coverage is as good if not better than the Tribune. Plus, the Tribune will like to see the Sun-Times go bankrupt and the launch of the Red Eye was suppose to cut in on the Sun-Times market. The more people subscribe to the Sun-Times, the more the Tribune will get fire under it's feet and try new things beyond the status quo.

I say do it. The Sun-Times is better than the local papers.

4. Waukegan paper is the News-Sun - I'd choose the Sun-Times
But that is based on how they were 50 years ago!

:-)

6. The Sun Time's editorial board is centrist
and totally supports the war but they endorsed Kerry. I do not subscribe but when I buy a paper it is the Times. The Tribune's endorsement of Bush was typical. I may be incorrect (1964 in question)but do not believe they have ever endorsed a Democrat for president.

8. Its been since the 1800's
I want to say its been since the 19th century since the Trib indorsed a democratic canidate, I heard that somewhere during the election. I have always liked the Sun times over the trinune. Lets not forget that Armstrong Williams was employed by Tribune Media.

9. Centrist I can deal with
At least, it beats a right-leaning editorial board, which the Tribune seems to have much of the time.

10. Their sports coverage rocks

Much better than the Tribune's, because the Sun-Times seems to have much more analysis and columnists. Plus, they have Jay Mariotti, who, if you have ever seen him on "Around the Horn" on ESPN, is very intelligent. If you care about that sort of thing.

11. I like Mariotti, but I've never heard anyone else say a positive...
thing about the man. It's interesting that you and I like him and the entire world doesn't.
