"SPRINGFIELD -- Gov. Rod Blagojevich trekked to California this week on his first out-of-state fund-raising trip since overhauling his security detail in the wake of heavy criticism about its size and expense.
With a security detail consisting of one state trooper -- as opposed to a dozen who went on previous trips -- the governor spent Monday and Tuesday in the Los Angeles area raising money for his campaign fund.

The governor did not take a state plane and his security detail did not drive a car across the country to meet him. Rather, he flew on a commercial flight and rented a car while in California.

The new procedures, announced in December, were put in place in response to complaints that his security team was bloated during earlier out-of-state trips.

"Since we've had the blowup about it, this is the first trip under the new rules and they were all adhered to," said Pete Giangreco, a spokesman for the governor's campaign fund, Friends of Blagojevich."

Blago can raise money in CA? Wow, he's got quite the fan base. Must be those Hollywood liberals giving him money.
