Chicago Sun-Times: Alderman backs Cubs' expansion
http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-wrig27.html

"The Cubs' revised plan to build 1,790 new bleacher seats at Wrigley Field -- without the sidewalk support columns area residents consider unsafe -- won the pivotal endorsement of the local alderman on Wednesday after the team threw in a few more neighborhood sweeteners.

Ald. Tom Tunney (44th) gave his blessing after the Cubs agreed to create a 7,000- to 10,000-square-foot neighborhood park at a soon-to-be-identified location and foot the bill for a new trolley service that would pick up fans at Michigan Avenue hotels and take them to Wrigley.

To encourage the use of public transportation in the congested neighborhood, a second trolley or double-decker bus service is planned to take fans to and from the Metra station at either Ravenswood or Clybourn.

City, Cubs must agree on price

According to Tunney, the team has also pledged to create a second remote parking lot if the need arises in addition to the one at DeVry University. Last season, the Cubs took over the shuttle-busing operation as part of a broad array of community protections that sealed the deal for the phase-in of 12 more night games."

Double decker buses from Michigan Ave.? Think about riding on those things on the way back from the game. Oh the drunkenness. The buses from Northwest Metra stations will be cool.

1. cool - I haven't been to a Cub Game in 5 years!
and I am getting too old to handle the CTA EL.

I wish the free seats on the roofs had not gotten so popular - that was a neat alternative in the 40's and 50's.

2. good for them
i`ll just go to the "field"... parking , food, views, bathrooms, are all better than the northside field plus you can get up and walk around in the southside field. the most important thing is that on the southside you don`t have to see dusty baker and his band of babies. i`ll excuse some players from his band on the grounds they actually care about the game. i`ll be going to the cell to see a decent team managed by a real manager that thinks baseball is "fung".
