What's your favorite radio station in the state? |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-27-05 01:47 PM by Tweed
I'm a big fan of 91.5 in Chicago. I especially love the jazz evenings and Odyssey. Gretchen has such a cool voice. Oh, and I can't forget Garrison Keillor with Prarie Home Companion. Car Talk is pretty good too, but I often forget to listen to it.
I can't go a summer without WGN. I love listening to Santo and the Cubs on the radio.

1. Well. I've been listening to WXRT for over 30 years......... |
|
And even though some of the college stations are very progressive, there's only one 'XRT.

XRT is defiently tops on my list when I'm in Chicago. I gave a thought to WGN, but outside of Pat and Ron broadcasting the Cubbies and Nick at Night, there isn't much I agree with on the station, so I can't give it the title.

Now I like to support 9FM which has three simulcast stations. There owner is a strong Dem supporter (Newsweb-Echayner). There management team came from XRT. XRT is now owned by Infinity.

17. and I hate to say it, but it isn't the same as it used to be.... |
|
(XRT, that is). Once they changed management/ownership, there was a clear decrease in its uniqueness. However, I still listen (there is only ONE Terri Hemmert, of course) when I'm not listening to NPR.

best mid day am in chicago. the worst am show in chicago-mike north-he makes don seem like a liberal, the only redeeming feature on that show is the lady they have on. she needs her own show or a decent partner on a liberal talk show. remember when wls had on mike malloy and jay "brain stems" marvin before he was nutured. his friday night shoot outs ( i think that was the name) was thee funnist thing i have ever heard on am radio.....jesus that was great radio!!!

Q101 isn't bad. I like 94.7 as well. Most of the time I'm commuting, though, which means listening to 91.5 for the news in the morning and afternoon.

I like hearing songs I don't normally hear on the radio. They play some real crap sometimes, but they also play a lot of good music from all genres.

16. 91.5, but only when... |
|
my daughter isn't shouting for me to put on the "Dido" CD with "White Flag" on it so she can sing along B-) Hee hee
I work from home, and usually blast out a CD at top volume (still trying to blow my PC's speakers ;) ) or listen to BBC Radio 4 online.
Tweed, do you do a Chicago radio show, or did I totally get the wrong end of the stick there? Be gentle with me, I'm new here. :D

It's not perfect, but it's as good as it gets for Chicago. There are other stations that might play songs I like, newer songs from younger bands, but they're likely few and far between a bunch of CRAP!

Its like a box of chocolates.
This Is Hell is the best, absolute best, political program on the air in this country.
Also, if you live in the far northern Chicago suburbs, listen to Wisconsin Public Radio out of Milwaukee, WHAD 90.7FM
