4. Why not?
It would be thoughtful and considerate of your fellow Americans to vote him out.

6. Good Luck
First off, Hastert is the Speaker of the House.

I dont see anything wrong with him being the Speaker, so long as he's from Illinois.

OK, I'm talking as an illinois combine person, but Hastert can do a lot for this state.

Ok, he isn't one of us, but he's from here. As the speaker, he can do a lot.

I wish there was a credible dem to challenge Denny, but dislodging a sittin Speaker of the House is quite a tough task.

I say that we donate money to Richard Morrison, the guy that has the guts to take on that bastard Tom DeLay. I absolutely hate Tom DeLay. Isnt DeLay French?!?

I would love it if Hastert ejected Delay from the house.

8. That's the hard part. Most Illinois Dems enjoy the pork he delivers.
As for Delay, he is not likely to be put out by Hastert or Morrison. It is more likely his own greed and disdain for the American people might do him in. Right now he is the one pulling Hastert's strings.

9. hastert ain`t done shit
for his district, a few things here and there but other than that nothing. the real power is delay-denny is a nice guy who does what he is told and they give him a few bucks to keep him happy.

7. We have a candidate trying to caucus in.
His name is Ruben Zamora from Aurora. I don't know his status yet. If he gets on the ballot there will be more info to follow. He's a state director for Kucinich so he's got the giant killer mentality and attitude.

12. I may know more about Ruben on Tuesday
The Kane Dem's are holding their caucus meeting then. Rubin was very active in the Kucinich effort. I have met him but only briefly. From what I know it seems unlikely he will have any problem getting slated.

10. Lose the Speaker of the House?
He has 1.3 million on hand right now, and he's unopposed. If any challenger came along with a shot at unseating him, he'd have millions more pouring in. It won't be done.

It's far better to target seats that we can take.

There is also something to be said for voting out the Speaker of the House. The state gets very little attention from this administration. IF * does stay in office, Hastert will be the only reason we get our fair share of appropriations, because Dubya would love to just say Screw Illinois, except we have the Speaker. It's hedging our bet to keep him around.

13. I am not in the 14th but I would work my ass off to get that guy beat.
I would feel it my duty as a resident of Illinois.

He is more of a puppet for the republican thugs then he is a representative for the state of Illinois and his constituency.

I wish his seat would be challenged.

15. due to logistical problems Rubin Zamora is not yet slated but it's all but
a done deal. There were no objections to his slating at the Kane Democratic central committee meeting on Tuesday.

16. I was not at that meeting, I have not gone to a Kane Dem
meeting in over a year. I will start to though when I have the time, I work at night. so it's hard, plus I am trying to cut back on some of the meetings I go to locally due to the stress. I am looking forward to seeing everybody at the meetings. Doug especially. He's great and really dedicated. KD Hampshire Township Chair.

17. Denny Should Go, But Others Need To Go First...
It'd be wonderful to see us return the favor the Repugnicans did when they outsted Foley, but from my past experiences, I can't see the Kane County Democratic Organization in any position to make any move against the guy. Hastart's still a god on the west sides of Elgin & Aurora...enough votes to keep him in office for as long as he wants.

I think Democrats stand a better chance taking down one of several Repugnicans...and see if we can grab one or two seats here (hopefully other Democrats are doing that in other states) and surprise the world by retaking the House this fall.

The obvious target on my list is my "Repre-Hick-senative" Crane, but I think Weller's fair game down south and Kirk could be had as well.

I lived and worked in Elgin in the 80's and knew a lot of the Kane County Dems (and Repugnicans)...and it wasn't a pretty sight in those days. They could barely put a county-wide slate together...or win a city council seat...yet mount a serious challenge to Hastert or his predecessors.

Cheers!
