WLS is a joke except for Nate Clay. They used sneaky trick to oust Nancy |
|
Skinner and Ski Anderson. Nancy announces she is running for Senate a year ago, and all of a sudden WLS fires her. Then Ski Anderson takes over the show on his own, and 2 months later WLS fires him.
Now they have some little right wing hostess on Sunday afternoon nobody listens to.
They fired Mike Malloy in March 2000 because they didn't want him saying bad things about Bush.
Roe Conn I don't find entertaining. And Jay was good in 1993 but he quit for 5 years and when he came back he started sounding right wing.
What a huge step down that station has taken.

was the station to listen to in the '60s, when they played the Beatles. Sigh. Too bad it has gone downhill. My guitar gently weeps.

2. I think Nancy had to resign when she announced her candidacy |

and the show really wasn't the same without her. I wish they could come back now.
Other than that I haven't listened to them since they played music a long time ago.
Nate is a great guy, but I can't take his voice for several hours in a row.
Screw Roe Conn, if you want talk radio in that slot listen to Steve Dahl. His show isn't overly political, but he has endorsed Kerry, and I've always loved Steve's brand of comedy.

3. I can barely take them as well |
|
I'll sometimes check and see what Don's howling about in the mornings when I'm taking my daughter to school, but 10 minutes is just about my limit. I NEVER listed between 10:55 and 2:05 or 6:55 to midnight.
Because they're so right-wing, I forget about any Saturday shows that have the other point of view. If the hostess on Sunday you're talking about is Teri O'Brien...that woman's voice starts making my blood boil. She thinks she's this sexy sounding intelligent beautiful blonde, but her words are so ugly and mean.
Roe and Rush are their big money makers with ad dollars though. I once had to sit through 3 days of listening from about 9am till 4pm to evaluate advertisers for a client. I told my boss she I was going through sheer torture. Needless to say, this is the same boss who was so excited about buying the Bush doll. When my revulsion reflexively showed on my face, she retorted that she'd buy the bin Laden doll for me. Probably charged it to the business too. Needless to say, she LOVES WLS, Rush, Hannity, and I no longer work with her.

4. I enjoyed Roe & Garry more than Roe solo |
|
That was a freaking nightmare six months, hearing one thing about the negotiations and then the opposite happened (Garry turned down WLS' offer).
I liked their show because it was really apolitical - and when it did get political they were equal opportunity offenders. Maybe it's just because we're in the middle of a presidential election, but Roe seems to be showing his true Rep. colors now.
