Illinois Lawmakers Approve State Budget, Ending Record Overtime Session
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Illinois lawmakers adopted a $45.5 billion state budget Saturday, 54 days into a record-breaking overtime legislative session and three weeks after the start of the fiscal year.
The new budget, which erased a multibillion-dollar deficit, increased spending on education and health care but provided for across the board cuts elsewhere by as much as 4 percent.
Voting on $11 billion in capital construction projects was delayed until November.

Granted, I've been focusing on the national scene and have paid much attention to state budgets since I stopped working for the state almost ten years ago.
