Democratic donor plans to purchase 3 stations
A big donor to the Democratic Party will add three Chicago-area radio stations to his growing media group in a deal with Spanish Broadcasting System Inc.

Fred Eychaner's Newsweb Corp. said Monday that it plans to buy the stations for $28 million, pending approval from the Federal Communications Commission.

Eychaner, who was in Boston on Monday attending the Democratic National Convention, has given roughly $9 million to party-affiliated organizations and campaigns since 1989, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a non-partisan research group based in Washington, D.C.

Eychaner's Newsweb sold WPWR-Ch. 50 to News Corp.'s Fox Entertainment Group two years ago for $425 million. The sale came 20 years after Eychaner secured the station's original license for about $1.5 million.

2. Good news
Next I want to see some Dem buy up a tabloid. I am so tired of seeing anti-Dem headlines when I stand in line to check out my groceries.

4. Here's the catch:
Pending approval from the (Michael Powell overseen and Bush owned) FCC.

Yah, that's gonna work.
