Anyone interested in discussing once again the Iowa Caucuses? |
|
That is with someone who had never attended a caucus and therefore does not like them...... http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1832789

1. I think they are profoundly un-American. I want my vote to be secret |
|
and I surely don't want to be intimidated into voting a certain way.

2. Yes, profoundly un-American *rolls eyes* |
|
They've only been used since the early 1800s in the United States by political parties.

4. I'm sorry you believe that meeting with your neighbors |
|
in a social setting and planning the platform for the future of your party is considered unAmerican.
I also wonder what kind of neighbors you have that would attempt to intimidate you solely because you choose to support a different candidate than they do (of course you don't know if they support a different candidate because you and your neighbors vote in secret).
If you register with a specific then you are no longer keeping your preference secret. If you have a bumper sticker/yard sign/lapel pin or if you walk in a parade or volunteer for your party, you are no longer keeping your preference secret. How is this any different from standing in a room and saying I prefer candidate X be the nominee?
Have you had a conversation with someone who attended a caucus and was intimidated? I don't know of anyone and am just wondering.
