All Nussle all the time! Todd Dorman takes Jim Nussle to task

Nussle hits bumps early in campaign

<snip>

"No more excuses for Iowa's lack of progress," Nussle said in his speech. "It's time for a leader with courage who embraces bold ideas."

<snip>

But by page 4, Nussle was making excuses for his own record. And instead of embracing them, the congressman waved to bold ideas from a safe distance.

Nussle, chairman of the House Budget Committee, blamed terrorism for a ballooning federal budget deficit, citing an economic "gut punch" after Sept. 11, 2001, and the costly wars being waged in Afghanistan and Iraq. A big deficit was unavoidable. Don't blame him.

But later in his speech, Nussle curiously was unwilling to cut Statehouse budget writers similar slack. "State government is spending at an unsustainable rate, while borrowing almost a billion dollars from special state accounts to meet obligations," Nussle said, citing warnings from, State Auditor Dave Vaudt.

Receiving a lecture on budgeting practices from a member of Congress must have seemed ironic for GOP legislative leaders sitting nearby. Congress wrote the book on fund-scooping and budget tricks and the federal government probably lost $1 billion in broken soda machines last year.

Good piece that slams Nussle's habit of running one direction and voting another.

1. Todd Dorman is Clark Kent in disguise

Yea for Todd Dorman!!! A reporter who actually asks real world questions and expects more than a spin cycle answer.

Todd's coverage of Democrats is equally unblinking when they act stupid. Let's hope Lee Enterprises doesn't censor him.

2. You mean the Iowa press won't roll over
and just take everything a repuke says as gospel? Isn't that illegal or something? Aren't they just supposed to question Dems? Somehow it just doesn't seem right that a repub be held accountable. It's just not fair. Who knows how far up the ladder this could spread. Better stamp it out before it causes others to be questioned. Why does Todd Dorman hate 'Murica? Is he a terraist?

4. Eye of the Tiger ...... Nusslepalooza ....... bwahahahahahah!
Thanks for posting this story! I felt like barfing when Nussle announced his plans to run for governor. This story helped me laugh about it.......my fave quote: "sophisticated Iowa voters can make Mr. Inevitable into Mr. Irrelevant faster than you can sing "Eye of the Tiger." Not that you'd want to." Todd Dorman = Clark Kent indeed! :D

8. Busted! Help me out please
There was a congressional budget office report that stated without 911 and the War in Iraq the pugs still spent us into oblivion! I read it and I don't have time to find it right now. Somebody please find it because the budget disaster is not due to either one of those factors Nutsell uses as an excuse. Total Bullshit!

11. Please post for all to see when you do find it
If I have time I'll snoop around as well - the boss is here today so I may have to actually work (of course when I tell him that I'm looking up proof of Nussle's lies he may close the office to give me more time to search!)
