Patty Judge to Announce Gubenatorial Bid - DM Register

Iowa Agriculture Secretary Patty Judge is scheduled to hold a press conference today at which she is expected to announce plans to run for governor.

Late Tuesday afternoon, Judge's Web site had a news release headlined "Patty Judge announces her campaign for governor." The statement repeated the same sentence nine times: "Secretary of Agriculture Patty Judge today announces her campaign for governor."

However, Tuesday night the only item on Judge's Web site was a form inviting visitors to sign up for her e-mail announcements.

Today's announcement will be at 11 a.m. at her campaign headquarters in Des Moines.

Judge is serving her second term as the state's top agricultural elected official. She is the first woman to be elected the state's agriculture secretary.

that's what was done when Roxanne Conlin (federal atty for IA) was the democratic candidate ...... she lost to Terry Bransted, who never seemed like a very strong candidate......Roxanne had also spoken at the international UN meeting about women's rights--or was it a national US meeting about women's rights (in Houston??--and was viciously attacked for this........she also debated Phyllis Shafley around the country and always won....so finally Shafley wouldn't debate any more

attacks on her husband's business dealings were also 'in' when Geraldine Ferraro ran for veep in ????
