Any reports on the Kucinich visit to CR on 7/16?
Talked to some friends who went and they were really impressed. We stayed home due to the heat (no way I could drag my wife out in the heat).
Also, I heard Jim Leach was somewhat tongue-tied at an event at a mosque. Any reports on that?
I feel so bad for missing.

2. CR is Cedar Rapids abbreviated
A lot of us lazy Iowans call it that. Why we don't call Iowa City IC is unknown, at least to me. And I was raised in a small town of LeClaire and never called it LC. Anyway, there's your answer. From a D'porter.

3. Very inspiring! My 11 year old son and I went
and were both very impressed. He did a great job letting people know what the Dems have to offer and getting people fired up for the '06 elections. I was interested to learn of plans for a Department of Peace. He also talked about the problems with a deteriorating infrastructure in the country, especially apparent in Iowa he said, and talked of a WPA-style project to fix things up and simultaneously do good economically.

His fiancee was with him - she's tall and lovely.

I'll take my de-lurking as an opportunity to thank the Linn County Democrats for all their work on this picnic.

My 11 year old is the only one of my three to share my interest in politics. It was great to have a chance not only to introduce him to someone important nationally, but show him how the nitty-gritty of politics gets done by ordinary people. It was well worth the drive from CF (Cedar Falls).

4. Welcome to DU!
Glad you had a good time at the Linn County Democrats gathering and glad your young son is interested in politics. It's good that you showed him the grassroots stuff. If we ever get the meetup thing going, I hope to meet you sometime. Once again, welcome and enjoy your stay here. I'm in Davenport, by the way. Try and contain your boredom over that.
