Rallies in Iowa in support of Cindy
I cannot go to crawford , though I wish I could... are there any rallies in support of Cindy in Iowa. I live on the east side but only about three hours from Des Moines. My family would love to participate, just need to know where we can go.

Thanks.

1. Hi Cbear70
I have a friend in Cedar Falls who is very active politically. If something is going on, I'm sure he would know about it. I'll shoot him off an email, check his blog, etc. I'll let you know if I find anything.

Great idea, btw! There should be sites all over the US for this thing to really make an impact.

2. Thanks
That would be great. I am not that great at organizing but want to do something to help Cindy and show our support.

I want to do anything I can to end this disgrace of a presidency as well.. time to stand up and take our country back.

3. My pleasure!
I get the feeling you really need to meet my friend, and his circle of dem friends in Iowa. They are pretty good at organizing.

My friend is a former POTUS candidate... he did all his campaigning in bib-overalls... strike a bell?

:)

I am so sorry...its not hitting me right now..I became involved with politics for the first time this past election, before then I was only a whiner who did nothing. Iowa is also new to me, only being here the last 5 years, I am originally from PA.

please forgive me for not knowing..but I am interested in being more involved in events in Iowa. That would be so great.

I enjoy telling my kids about the election when their father and I stood in line with a Presidential candidate ....

If there are any solidarity actions going on in eastern Iowa I would certainly make an effort to attend.

8. We need to do something
There has got to be people in Iowa who would stand up with us and support Cindy and be against the war. I know Iowa supposedly went for * but I just have a hard time believing there are not enough of us determined, angry people who are ready to stand up and be courageous like Cindy.

I never hear of rallies here, maybe its because I am not connected to the right people but I would love to see something happen here. I have no family out here and no connections so need help in the organizing department.

thanks for all of your help and support

9. Hello again!
Well, my buddy put out the rally cry over the weekend and it looks like they are getting something organized, probably in the Waterloo area. In addition, they are talking about putting up tents in their front yards to show support. I think this is a very cool idea. I'll keep you posted:)

12. Supporting Cindy
Hi, folks.

I do not normally post to blogs as other folks seem to have great things to say and usually I don't feel I need to add anything.

However, in this case, I have particularly strong feelings about what is happening outside George Bush's ranch. Cindy Sheehan's son died in a conflict that should never have happened. Many of us argued that at the time. Many were more prescient than I in predicted the consequences of our invasion but I was with them on this matter. One of my arguments was that Saddam could have been contained at a relatively low cost and that he was no imminent or even medium-term threat to his neighbors or the U.S.

In my case, I have a stepson who spent seven months in Ramadi, Iraq as a Marine. It is fair to say that those seven months were probably the hardest seven months of his mother's life. Thankfully, Marcos is back home and safe. Now, in all likelihood, his wife, also a Marine, will be headed to Iraq in the months to come. For all those families of men and women in the armed forces, I hope and pray that we begin very soon to draw down our troop levels in Iraq. It is time for us to recognize that the idea of somehow establishing an American-style democracy in Iraq was always nothing more than a pipe dream of the neo-cons.

Moreover, it is time that we take a more serious look at just how this administration got it so wrong regarding the "evidence" of weapons of mass destruction. Or, did they not get it wrong at all and simply engage in distortions if not outright fabrications? At a minimum, we need to support the Barbara Lee Resolution of Inquiry on this matter.

Then, we need to multiply many times over the number of members of congress who have already signed the letter requesting that President Bush meet with Cindy Sheehan. This is the least he can do at this point.

Thanks for all you folks are doing to restore a Democratic majority to the U.S. Congress and on other matters so critical to the vast majority of Americans.

David Loebsack
Democratic Candidate for IA-2 U.S. House District

17. Davenport, IA Unitarian Church lot
It is located on Kimberly and Eastern in case any Quad-City DUers want to show up. I'll be the fat guy with a candle burning. I encourage all to attend in your local area. In case any QCers are reading this, I'll try and remember a DU sticker. I drive a 2001 Ford Taurus, silver. I will not give out mt license plate no. here, but hope to see any Duers, and others, there tonight. I'm sure it will be a somber occasion.
