Ed Fallon to speak in CR Saturday... |
|
State Representative Ed Fallon, who is running for Governor, will speak at 5 pm on September 3 at The S.E.E.D. Society at 1029 3rd Street SW in Cedar Rapids on the role of Economic Development in Iowa. On Fallon's web site, he says, "My approach to economic development is to invest and reinvest in the infrastructure necessary to attract and retain businesses owned and operated by Iowans. I propose to build on Iowa's most successful and cost-effective economic-development program: Main Street Iowa. Over the past 20 years, through Main Street Iowa, 85 communities have seen growth and revitalization. This is by far the best bang for the buck we can get, and on a modest annual appropriation of between $500,000 and $650,000."
The Sustainable Equitable Economic Development (S.E.E.D.) Society is a colalition of peace and social justice activists whose mission is to plant seeds of peace and justice; to educate and inspire; to motivate to progressive action those willing to assert that: peace is possible, political action is our social responsibility and economic development is attainable through cooperative efforts.
