Former Sioux Cityan undertaking run for Congress - Loebsack

David Loebsack, a Sioux City native now living in Mount Vernon is making a run for the 2nd District congressional seat in southeast Iowa .

Democrat Loebsack, a long-time Cornell College political science professor, two weeks ago announced his candidacy for the House of Representatives. Although Leach, a 15-term congressman from Davenport, hasn't decided upon running again, Loebsack said he's full steam ahead.

Loebsack was born in Sioux City and graduated from East High School in 1970. He has been a Democratic Party activist for nearly the last quarter century, working on numerous state and national campaigns, but has not won elective office himself.

I note he is an East High Black Raider, so he must be great!

"It is time for real change in Iowa's 2nd District. After traveling the district for several months, I have found that Iowans from all parties as well as independents believe that 30 years is more than enough time in office for any politician."
