Another Endorsement for Braley
Right off a fresh email from the campaign:

IAFF Endorsement! We also just received word that I have been endorsed by the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF). Like AFSCME, the Fire Fighters are known for their grassroots political strength in Iowa and around the country, and their endorsement is highly valued by candidates.

Other Labor Support. The Braley Team also received financial support this quarter from the Brotherhood of Maintenance of the Way, and the Airline Pilots Association.

1. I was impressed...
I heard the three of them speak recently and Braley, followed closely by Gluba, caught my attention the most.

He seems sincere, informed, and fired up. My friend that I took along, who isn't engaged in politics for the most part and is a fresh slate, was also most impressed by Braley's ideas more so than the others.

I think we need fresh minds with fresh ideas in politics these days, from local elections all the way to the Presidency. I think Braley is one of those fresh minds.

2. October 15 is the quarterly FEC filing deadline
That will definitely help weigh the amount of support each candidate has.

Braley continues to wow people up and down the 1st Congressional District. His web site is continually updated with recent events and work done by the campaign. Really on the ball.

Wonder what Iowa Fed. of Labor and UAW are going to do???

3. I don't know
But it is entirely possible that the "old lline" Unions will support Gluba. He is very well known and has had organized labor support in the past. This is just an opinion and I don't know the answer to your question, but I am a Union member, so I have at least some semblance of knowledge about Union endorsements. Ah hell, I can fake it anyway.

4. IAFF one of the big movers behind Kerry in Iowa
They do grassroots good. The night of the caucuses I was coming home and saw a "fire fighters for Kerry" sign on the lawn of one of the local leaders. I was working for Dean in the caucuses. I looked over at my wife and said "Uh oh. That's a bad sign. Fire fighters really stick together". We all know what happened that night.

5. He is definitely in the lead in the money game.
He is $80,000 ahead of Rich Dickinson and $220,000 ahead of Gluba as of the end of the 3rd quarter on 9/30. So far he is about $40,000 ahead of Dix, but the RNC has a lot of money to throw to Dix if they get really serious about the seat and I would imagine they will. Both Braley and Dickinson were at our Central Committee meeting last Tuesday and, at least in my eyes, Braley remains the most exciting.
