A "stealth" candidate for Iowa's first District
Went to a fund raiser for the Scott County Dems on Saturday night and three candidates for the Congressional seat were there at the supper. Gluba, who was at home, Dickinson, who was impressive, and Braley's reps. I was disappointed the man himself wasn't there, but apparently he had another commitment. There was also a dark horse candidate in attendance, a guy named David S. Overby. Now Mr. Overby has some, um, interesting ideas, such as abolishing the corporate tax, abolishing deductions and exemptions for everyone, a national sales tax(which may not be a bad idea), Universal health care in tandem with universal right to education, and some other stuff. He also has some interesting quotes in his "Little Green Book", which I believe may be available on his website. One of them is,"Jesus was born in a manger with a donkey in attendance. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph escaped to Egypt on a donkey. Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. If you want to find Jesus, look for a donkey, not some friggin' elephant". There are others. I think his website is www.overbyforcongress.org Check it out, it is entertaining if nothing else. He is also anti war. The guy may be worth a look, even though he is off the wall and most likely won't win the primary.

1. I believe his little green book is called 'The Little Green Manifesto'
now the word in itself is not bad, but think of other people who have written manifestos.....:scared:

Just sayin! :hi:

2. The Little Green Book
Yeah, I spent some time reading a lot of his little green book the other day (and just perused it a bit this afternoon)...he definitely offers a "unique perspective" on things, doesn't he?

I liked the donkey bit, but other than that there isn't a real cohesive or professional tone to it. Not that I am saying its a bad thing, but i don't think it's something that people would identify enough with to vote for him.

Definitely interesting. He has a philosophical touch to him.
