Money flows into House races
(I only posted 1st District info - more in the story - d.)

<snip>
Democrat Bruce Braley of Waterloo said he raised $84,000 during the last three months of 2005, and ended the year with $289,000 in the bank. Braley said he raised $390,000 overall in 2005 in his attempt to win the primary nomination for the First District seat.

A second Democrat, Bill Gluba of Davenport, filed a report with the Federal Election Commission saying he raised $21,000 during the same period and had $28,000 at the end of 2005. Gluba raised $114,000 through the year.

A third Democrat, Rick Dickinson of Dubuque, raised $25,000 through the period, FEC reports showed. Dickinson said he had $118,000 in the bank at the end of the year, and overall during 2005 raised $244,000.

once the nominee is determined. I've heard figures in the 2 to 3 million range. If true, the Dems really want this seat. I do too.
edited because I can't type well

2. Probably the DCCC, but be careful
in 2002 the DCCC put money in at the wrong time (during the primary) and then pulled out when their chosen candidate didn't poll well against the republican opponent.

In 2004 the DCCC 'promised' a boat-load of money to Gluba and, again after polling showed Gluba seriously behind, didn't give him any (or at least very little).

The DCCC talks big, but our nominee HAS to look like a winner or they'll just bail again. We have to make sure that the nominee is well funded by US and is well supported.

We can't rely on the DCCC! :thumbsdown:

3. Good news for Bruce
The numbers in the article sure look good for Bruce. He is really hitting his stride and is apparently still going strong on the fundraising front as well.

4. Yeah, he's keeping his spending down and raising money well
Take a gander at the FEC reports.

Braley received MORE Iowa money, which should stop the other campaigns whining that he was getting too much out of state support. AND he continues to receive endorsements and PAC money.

The other campaigns are still spending WAY TOO much money on consultants and fund raisers and DEFINITELY not getting a return on their investment ($12,000 on a fund raiser for $25,000 in contributions? Ouch!) And contributions seem to be isolated to their home counties. There are 12 counties in the District, campaigns need support in all 12 in order to win.

He should be happy with how he's doing, just need to keep it going.
