2. 4% and holding. Any additional money will come from
specific budget items. Thus, it will be 4% for allowable growth (which most districts will not see a dime from) and then additional money for teachers, tech, AEAs, etc.

6. A little of both. Vilsack chickened out on some of the funding that
House and Senate Dems wanted so that he could "build a bridge" to the republicans. I think House and Senate Dems wanted to be inflexible--because if republicnas did not cave (and I believe they would have)--the Dems could use it to take back the chambers this November.

I think we'll get 4%, money for teachers, AEAs, Comm. Colleges, etc. I think it will be only about half of what is needed.

Vilsack's mistake will result in allowing Republicans to accurately claim up to November that they "increased funding for education" and they "strengthened schools." It will probably allow them to hold some seats they could not have held if we'd actually put their feet to the fire. Oh well...

7. So he sold out his Party in the hopes that the GOP would work with him
later?

How's that gone for him so far?

8. Uh, not well. I think he is going for that Clinton triangulation thing
but that Clinton thing is dead. Remember? republicans killed that with...uh...what was his name? Oh, yeah, Clinton. There is no more bipartisanship so strong leaders will probably be only those that can strong arm everyone into doing what the leader wants them today. Hasn't GWB matered this? How big of a block was Daschle? I think Dean, Reid, and Pelosi understand this is now the way of things.

9. On this one Vilsack is stupid, and he screwed his fellow Democrats
and shafted the teachers. That's going to be hard to forget!

4. Lol, I know I saw that..
I guess I am both...invited to attend and required to buy a ticket even if I choose not to go.

And if I knew something about what our county would do with the funds I would gladly pay...a little hesitant given the current status. I suppose it will be used later this year to help candidates.
