Please make a pact with me - ANNOY GRASSLEY with emails
While he's always annoying, Grassley has recently been getting on my nerves in a big way.

Last year I had simply given up contacting his office. But now post-Alito, I am finding a satisfaction in contacting his office every time he does or says something that comes from a Karl Rove Blast Fax (plame outing a two bit nothing) or is clearly designed to protect or promote some cockamamie program of Bush admin.

I am always polite and respectful. Frequently I send links and articles which either quote his latest idiocy or refute his latest idiocy (i.e. Plame working on nukes in Iran)

I always appeal to his great "common sense" ( ) and implore him to use it. And I always remind him that "we" elected him to serve and protect Iowans, not the Bush administration or Karl Rove.

It is so easy to do, esp with his handy dandy web contact form

1. Will do!
But I think it will be me who is more annoyed after getting back one of his folksy-golly-gee emails back.

I can't wait til he is retired.

2. Heck, He never writes me back
Maybe he figures I won't buy the "I'm just a hick like you" act.

Anyway -- thanks!

3. God bless you!
I send Grassley an email about once a week. I have given up being nice to him. Hell, he's not nice to living people. I usually start with something like "Since your Bush's water carrier" or " I know you care more about your party than the citizens of your state or country" etc.
It just makes me feel good to let him know that some Iowans are totally fed up with his bullshit and know it does no good to play nicey-nicey. His party has been doling the crap out for 15 years (at least). Time to shovel it back their way. If they can't stand the smell, to effing bad.
Carry on soldier. I shall enjoy joining your battle.

6. Good for you -- I just sent him a barnburner on this UAE American Ports
Will this be the thing that wakes him up? That Bush admin is so incompetent that they sell our ports to a a country with a real spotty record on terrorism? Well, I can dream can't I.

White House Defends Port Sale to Arab Co.
By TED BRIDIS and DEVLIN BARRETT, Associated Press Writers Thu Feb 16, 3:48 PM ET
WASHINGTON - The Bush administration on Thursday rebuffed criticism about potential security risks of a $6.8 billion sale that gives a company in the United Arab Emirates control over significant operations at six major American ports.

Lawmakers asked the White House to reconsider its earlier approval of the deal.

The sale to state-owned Dubai Ports World was "rigorously reviewed" by a U.S. committee that considers security threats when foreign companies seek to buy or invest in American industry, National Security Council spokesman Frederick Jones said.

7. Wow China owns our debt and now the Arabs run our ports
Now why would anyone believe that the US is being sold piece by piece to the highest bidder?

8. It is even worse
the United Arab Emirates is the country that the terrorists on 9/11 laundered money in before the WTC attacks. Mike Malloy went off on it on Tuesday night's show.

9. Just had to send one to Grassley
Senator,
I can not help but write and say congratulations to the Bush administration. Turning the operation of six of our largest ports over to Arabs. Hope he got a good price. I know with republicans price is the most important thing.
That along with our massive debt, much of which is held by foreign powers such as China and Japan, and our huge trade deficit should help stabilize foreign relations.
Which brings me to the question that many Iowans are asking - will your grandson be signing up to fight in Bush's war after he loses his state house run? It would look good in his resume. And since he is republican, he probably won't be swift-boated for joining the Army.

Hoping you got a good price for those ports,

I'll be good cop, you be bad cop.

I wrote him asking him to support this effort by Dems to stop the UAE deal

11. One thing...
I have a lot of Arab friends, all of whom are Democrats. I am not saying it was intentional, but your text insinuates that having Arabs run a port is a bad thing? Smacks of racism, even if it's not.

You may want to clarify your "Arab" comments and specificy United Arab Emirates as the country that we were sold-out too, it makes a big difference.

Just sayin.

12. I was trying to speak to Grassley in prejudices he could
understand. Hard to do a <wink.. wink> via email. Since Chuckles deals in the fear-mongering, I figured his understanding of "arab" would be as a person to fear. This was an email to Grassley (OK his staff) not an LTTE.
