Lawmaker wants Grassley on judiciary panel |
|
State Rep. Dan Boddicker says the senator should run the Judiciary Committee, instead of Arlen Specter.
By JANE NORMAN REGISTER WASHINGTON BUREAU November 5, 2004
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Washington, D.C. - An Iowa state lawmaker said Thursday that he has launched a drive to install U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, as concerns grow that the Supreme Court may soon need a new justice.
State Rep. Dan Boddicker, a Tipton Republican, said he was outraged by comments by Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter on Wednesday warning President Bush against putting forth court nominees who would try to overturn abortion rights. (-snip-) Grassley, a Republican and abortion opponent, has more seniority than Specter, but is expected to resume his chairmanship of the Senate Finance Committee. Republicans control 55 seats in the Senate following Tuesday's election.
Boddicker wrote Grassley a letter asking the Iowa senator to give up Finance for Judiciary, and is publicizing his "draft Grassley" drive through the Internet. (-snip-)DSM Register

he's a trip too. I used to like ol' Chucky back when he cared about his constituents. Now he's a lapdog with a lot of seniority. A big stupid twangy voiced goofy grinning lapdog.

3. Boddicker is about the most moronic |
|
member of the House (and he has plenty of competition). Thank god he retired and did not run this year.

5. I can't figure out what Grassley |
|
has done to help Iowa from his lofty power filled perch atop the Senate Finance Committee. Well exept for the Rain Forest boondoggle in Coralville.

6. Well, he's helped John Ruan a lot |
|
Singlehandedly, he got Ruan a BIG tax break a few years back. (Gee, too bad I don't own a fleet of trucks!!!)
When I wrote to him about the tax cuts, he wrote back and told me how much good they would do me. That extra $100/yr won't even feed my dogs!!!

7. Great, let the in-fighting begin |
|
Don't know anything about Boddicker but I hope these ultra-wackos keep up their ranting. If they want to make someone like Spector look too centrist maybe some of the repubs will wise up and question their support of these neo-kooks. Not to mention the idiotic Democrats that voted for this administration.
