Harkin in the Gazette today
Said he would be standing up to Bush and the other radical republicans. He was one of the few who said much of anything against Bush during the first admin. I personally got to thank him the day he called Cheyney (can't remember exactly) a 'coward'.
Please send him an email to let him know we are backing him 100%

2. Ditto: Harkin is a hero of mine too.
I voted for him in Michigan's 1992 primary, because I wasn't completely sold on that Clinton guy. (I eventually warmed up to him)
Harkin had dropped out of the race, but I voted for him anyways. I think he would make an excellent President. I hope he considers running in 2008. We sure as hell wouldn't lose Iowa if he were on the ticket. Wisconsin wouldn't be close either, and we might get a shot at Missouri or West Virginia.
How about Harkin/Gephardt in 2008?

3. As an Iowan
I think its great that we have a man such as Harkin representing us in the Senate, but, quite frankly, I don't really see him as presidential. Gephardt is retired anyway. In fact, I emailed him after he quit the presidential race and thanked him for his work and continuing support of organized labor. Harkin has been targeted in the past by the rnc, so that alone makes him all right. But the fact that he is for the "Joe 6 packs" of the state, like me, is just great. Now if you want an Iowan as President, Governor Vilsack may just be the man. In fact, Senator Harkin fully supports Vilsack. 100% no qualifications. I'm thinking Vilsack for U.S. Senate in '08, because Grassley will likely retire by then, and then maybe on the national ticket in '12.

4. Grassley retire in 08? What a wonderful thought. I'll sleep well tonight

5. Well I'm not 100% sure about that
I'm just thinking that he's 70 plus years old and there have been rumblings that this may be his last term. But it is nice to think about. And he may as well go while he still has his health. And while we still have ours.
