Protect our Internet -- Call Grassley & Harkin
COPE (Communications Opportunity, Promotion and Enhancement Act) has passed the U.S. House without a 'net neutrality' amendment and will now head to the U.S. Senate. It is important that we tell both our Senators to either tack on such an amendment or vote no on COPE.

The Act provides an opening which will be exploited by telephone and cable companies: It allows for tiered access. That is, it allows smaller pipes or larger pipes to be created from point A to point B and effectively kills what has been a level playing field for businesses of all sizes. (Faster access to web sites which pay a fee... slower access to sites which do not.)

I used the contact forms from both sites....Grassley's gave me some sort of strange error each time I tried to use it, so who knows if it went through.

What I sent is below...it's basically a plagiarized version of your note..I am short on time and could have done better. Thanks for the heads up!

---------------------

Senator Harkin,

I am writing to urge you to action on COPE (Communications Opportunity, Promotion and Enhancement Act), which has passed the U.S. House without a 'net neutrality' amendment and will now head to the U.S. Senate.

This act provides an opening which will be exploited by telephone and cable companies: It allows for tiered access. That is, it allows smaller pipes or larger pipes to be created from point A to point B and effectively kills what has been a level playing field for businesses of all sizes. (Faster access to web sites which pay a fee... slower access to sites which do not.)

Please vote NO to this act as it stands, or add a 'net neutrality' amendment that will fix this broken attempt at legislation.

Please do not let this disparity come to be.

Thank you,

EDITED TO TAKE MY NAME OFF...whoops!
