Vilsack indicated he could challenge the constitutionality of an override.

Vilsack, a Democrat, maintains the Legislature legally can't reconvene to override a bill after adjournment of the regular legislative session. "It's important to have the appropriate balance between the legislative power and the executive power," he said at an outdoor press conference in a redevelopment area on Des Moines's north side.

an election year. Let us hope that it was really really thought it through. I have a feeling some parts of the bill will come back to bite particularly cities in the butt in coming years. I hope not. Don't ask specifics, I do not know the bill inside and out.
Those that voted against it must either be retiring or feel very confident in victory, cause I am sure they will be beat over the head with it between now & November.

2. In typical DLC fashion, Vilsack handed the GOP an easy victory.
It's almost like they want to be in the minority some times.

3. Bad Law
It's a good idea, but poorly thought out by people who don't even understand wtf they are voting on.

The less the legislature convenes the better, imo.

5. So my cynical friend says to me . . .
They will override the veto and spend the next ten years carving out exceptions to this retro Farm Bureau piece of garbage. Good bye to airport expansions, good bye to recreational lakes, good bye to new plants outside city limits. The next time a Republican legislator tells me about the business climate in Iowa, I am going to punch them in the mouth!
