Harkin on Stem Cell Veto
Here are Sen. Harkin's remarks on the Senate floor about the stem cell veto. (http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/7/19/203820/106)

I don't get it. Who gave the President the authority to draw that line? He may be the President of the United States, but he's not the moral authority for all Americans. I say Mr. President, you are not our moral ayatollah. You don't have that right and you don't have that power. Oh, you can veto legislation, you can veto it...He vetoed it because he said it was immoral...tantamount to murder. No, I'm sorry but it is hyprocisy at the extreme for the President to take that position.

1. YES!!!
If I had a hundred years to prepare, I still wouldn't have said it better than he did in that link.

3. Heard the GOOD Senator from Iowa on with Ed Schultz today
It is such a pleasure to listen to him versus that dork from New Hampton. And Harkin has a personal stake in this. I believe he has a some relation with palsy that could possibly benefit from this research.
One other thing that seldom gets talked about. As our idiot leaders continue to show their religious, anti-science face to the world fewer and fewer of tomorrow's great scientists want to come here. And Americans with potential pack their bags for Europe. Hence we have a brain-drain. This will really start biting our economy in about ten years as new discoveries are made overseas. As if our economy needed another knife from these idiots.

4. I think Harkin has a nephew who was injured in the military
something like a spinal injury that could be helped by stem cell research.
