Governor's race from Kos
12. Iowa (D-Open)
While Rep. Nussle (R) seemed to be the early favorite, given the congressman's popularity in a lean-Democratic district for years, all the recent polling gives Chet Culver (D) (the sec of state) a narrow but consistent edge.

1. I saw that, but didn't quite get the rankings
I thought their analysis of the Iowa was about right, but I didn't get how they decided Iowa was 12th. And 12th what?

2. I am guessing they are in order of likelihood of a Dem victory.
The note below said he almost forgot to include Iowa.
Comments inside basically say it could bounce either way.
On another note - did you read the section on Nevada? They have (R) Jim Gibbons running against (D) Jim Gibson possibly. Boy would that be confusing.

3. I'm not complaining.
Just as long as Culver has the lead when the voting's over, that's what matters. If DailyKos is right, so far so good.

4. Where are the polls
I was expecting Culver to get a bounce after the primary and maybe start him out 10-12% points ahead ... figuring he was 8-9% ahead in the polls over Nussle prior to the primary. Did the media decide to stop polling to not allow a bounce to happen? I find it fairly strange.

I still think Culver is going to pull out a fairly sizeable win ... in part thanks to Fallon and Harkin. I think both of those progressives have a lot of reasons to cultivate and turn out a progressive base of voters. Obviously Vilsack has plenty of reasons to put a lot of money behind Culver as well ... I just don't know that Vilsack has much influence anymore.
