Is it just me?...
Or is anyone else really bothered by the tone of voice Bush and Cheney use when they say the word Massachusetts (not to mention the innacuracies about our laws, our judges and our Senators)

2. I understand what you are saying and I don't even live in MA
The right wing shrill game works like this:
They can be as shrill as they want, but a DEM is shrill back, they shreak. So Bush/Cheney can bad mouth MA as much as they want, but the second Kerry/Edwards would make a Texan joke they shreak bloody murder. It's a great little racket.

3. It bugs the SHIT out of me!!
Bush drives me up the wall on an everyday basis, but the whole attitude of a broad swath of the right wing that Mass. is somehow less American or worthy of contempt due to its somewhat-general-liberalness really PISSES me off.

It's not like MA hasn't made massive contributions to the very existence of the nation or anything, from Lexington to the 54th infantry in the Civil War...

Let's not even mention how MA is a source of cultural, technological, and educational that's unrivaled except for Cali, a state many many times the size!

Hey BUSH, FUCK YOU!

6. Massachusetts and the Bush Family . . .
including Dumbya's mother Barbara Pierce Bush, go back many years to colonial times here in New England and Massachusetts. GWBush's father was born here in Massachusetts (Milton, MA). Barbara Bush's family lineage includes President Franklin Pierce (of NH).

However, as with any extremist politician, GWBush attempts to demean and demonize his opponents by name-calling mud-slinging and other negative manner. No shock there. None whatsoever. Unfortunately, if mud slung isn't attacked then it sticks. Ask Governor Dukakis.

As for the attempts to smear some judges as "activist judges," one need only look into GWBush's recent backyard. The Bush v. Gore debacle where Dumbya's Daddy's nominees to the U.S. Supreme Court were "activist judges" over-riding "states rights" of Florida. In other words, the very meaning of the words "activist judges" is in the eyes of the beholder and those who wish to be intimidated.

Finally, as for our Senators . . . well? Both of whom are members of the twenty-first century who wish to and want to include others in this century. Their politics and their voting records loudly demonstrate this, unlike GWBush. Because GWBush and his extremist cohorts are of the party (rightwingers) who wish to and want to and continue to EXCLUDE others. It's there. Right there in their programs, their enacted laws, their judge nominees and seated members of the federal benches. It speaks very loudly! Very loudly, indeed.

I am damn proud to be a resident of Massachusetts. Born here. Raised here. Travelled and worked afar but remain here. We have the best schools in the world here in Massachusetts. Our historical base is wide and deep. Our cultural areas can compete with, and are better than, the rest of America with little exception. Our per capita income is one of the highest in the nation.

So, the next time you hear that "stuff" about Massachusetts, step back and take in the ENTIRE picture and savor it.

And, oh. btw. GO RED SOX GO !!

14. Home of Thomas Ditson - the "Original Yankee Doodle"
Lovely Billerica - next door to Lowell (voted All-American city in 1999, although not too many of my co-workers will venture in - too much ethnicity). And they recently opened a Mosque here in town - that went over big!
I do like it here though, just can't tolerate the intolerance sometimes, you know?
And Clinton may not be the most progressive town, but what a great name!

12. It bugs the shit out of me
I'm tired of being told that if you're from Massachusetts you're not a "real American." If I said that about another state, I'd be vilified.

Dammit, we ARE Americans too. Without us everyone would still be singing God Save the Queen.
