So tell me, what's the best beer brewed in Mass? |
|
I'm a huge fan of the stout they brew at the Amherst Brewing Company, but they don't really sell it anywhere outside the restaurant.
Holyoke Dam Ale from the Paper City brewing company is a good one that you can actually find in the stores.
I'm not sure whether Sam Adams should count... how much of their beer is actually brewed and bottled around here?

location self-explantory. Make a full line from ales to stouts. In some locales you can buy it in glass jugs. I got 2 at home - they're great for storing coins in.

Truth be told: it's the only Mass beer other than Sam Adam I've drunk. While IMHO Sam Adams isn't good at all, Harpoon turned out to be a good Ale.

4. My favorite Mass. beers are |
|
Ipswich (it is now back in the hands of someone who doesn't outsource the brewing so the quailty is back up to snuff)
Boston and Salem Beerworks (particularly the IPA and the Salem Pale Ale)
Harpoon.
Sam Adams is brewed and bottled at various Budweiser plants around the country (they lease the facilities). Super high quality brewing process but I'm not crazy about the beer itself.
I HIGHLY recommend trying the Salem Beer Works. I'm good friends with the brewer and I can honestly say I've never met anyone who cares more about putting out high quality product.

5. and while we're on the topic |
|
Has anyone ever had *and enjoyed* Sam Adams Triple Bock? I love the stuff, but nobody else I know can stand it. So, I end up having to finish the bottle on my own, which, at 20% alcohol, can be interesting.

6. Sam's was one of the first domestic quantity-produced craft brews |
|
Still holds up to the test, I still drink Sam's.
So remember: if you put out a good product, and lots of people buy it, and you become successful, you are a sellout.
Apparently.

10. Sam's was the best import in Germany at one time |
|
It was rated favorite import there a few years back. If I can't have a Beck's I'll have a Sam's (or Yeungling from PA)
