oldest restaurant in the U.S.A. and the oldest continuously operating restaurant in the U.S.A.
http://www.unionoysterhouse.com/Pages/history.htmlVisit President John F. Kennedy's personal booth upstairs at the Union Oyster House. Kerry makes a point to sit in JFK's seat on every election day that Kerry is in . . . he did so this year too. I also highly recommend that you sit downstairs at the bar and eat some raw oysters and/or clams on the 1/2 shell from the "raw bar," all of which overlooks the street and sidewalk as tourists, Bostonians and others walk to and fro along the "Freedom Trail" which passes in front of the bar (very large) window. Ask the bartender some questions about the history of the place. Typically, they love to chat.
Have a great time. "Do" the Freedom Trail, visit Boston's North End, the Paul Revere House, visit the Holocaust exhibits (not too far from the Union Oyster House) . . . Enjoy! And welcome to Boston.

That's the Freedom Trail. The Freedom Trail is a walkway throughout downtown Boston that draws tourists (and others) because along its pathway are many colonial historical including American Revolutionary War sites in Boston. Try it. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Wear comfortable shoes. Boston is a city which is very "walkable."
