Veterans for Peace in Concord, MA
(I also posted this in GD)

The Smedley D. Butler Brigade of the Veterans for Peace took part in the Patriot’s Day Parade in Concord, MA this morning. It was a beautiful spring day in New England.

Our brigade had the distinct honor of being the only registered group in the parade not to be acknowledged when passing the reviewing stand. The ‘sting’ of being ignored by the reviewing stand was more than offset by copious amounts of applause and cheering all along the route.

Coming over the Concord Bridge (yes, THAT Concord bridge)

4. I like the old dude in his Navy LT uniform
He's gotta feel pretty good that it still fits...the braid has the characteristic look of "very old salt" about it!

9. Great to see those pics with the Smedley Butler name out front.
What a great name to choose for their "brigade." I'm counting on the Veterans for Peace to educate their fellow citizens as to who Smedley Butler was and his thoughts on Uncle Sam's wars for business and profits. I was thinking when I saw the pics that probably 90% of the parade watchers would not have a clue as to the significance of the name "Smedley D. Butler Brigade." Hopefully, some of them at least will be motivated to find out, perhaps by asking a Vet for Peace just who this Butler fellow was and why they would choose to march under his name.

8. Looks like peaceful veterans are happy veterans.
They can live with themselves and sleep at night - I can tell. Good for them!
