A question about getting around in Boston...

If one takes the MBTA Commuter Rail into town, which line/stop is the one we need for Harvard Square? If we drive into the city, is there a public lot or paid parking structure nearby that we ought to park in that you can suggest? We're coming from Southeastern MA.

Thanks everyone! :-)

1. The Red Line, which you can catch at South Station
where the commuter rail ends. :hi:

3. Hi Kathy!
Thanks - and yes, I'm COMING HOME TO MA for ten days! Wheeeee....

(Trouble is, I lived in Westport my whole life, and don't remember a whole lot about commuting into Boston.)

I'm meeting some other DUers in Harvard Square for lunch on the 27th. If you are interested, you can certainly come too. I remember you talking me through a bout of homesickness last winter in this very forum! :-)

2. Link to the T
I know you take the Red Line to Harvard Square because it's named after Harvard's crimson color. Here's the web site for further information:

5. The trick to getting around in Boston...

6. Hahaha so I hear.
I'm actually a Westport native, but not real well versed in getting around Boston, but for one or two neighborhoods I used to haunt. I am "wicked" excited about coming home.

7. Vektor
I may take you up on your offer. I live about thirty-five or forty minutes west of the Riverside station near Newton-Wellesley Hospital. KathyinCambridge, could you tell me how to get to Harvard Sq. if I take the trolley in from Riverside? I'd love to meet some of you guys and discuss politics with people who are at least sane or not in a political coma.

9. You want to take the Green Line to Park Street and change to the Red Line
going toward Alewife. Once you change at Park Street, Harvard Sq is 4 stops (Charles-Kendall-Central-Harvard). I asked Vektor to PM me the details. Hope to see you there!

12. Another question:
How are we gonna recognize eachother?

I'll make it easy for you guys:

I'll be the long-haired guy with glasses wearing a green Red Sox cap, a Nomar jersey and, if the Sox are still winning by the 27th, I'll likely have a Red Sox flag sticking out of my ass.

14. Still arranging it with the locals.
I am sort of at their whim, since I am the visitor, and don't know where anything is.
