Republican Charles D. Baker announced Monday he would not run for governor next year, saying he did not want to spend so much time away from his family.

Baker, 48, CEO of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, also said he could not wait until the fall when Gov. Mitt Romney is expected to kick off the race by announcing whether he will seek re-election.

Romney, a Republican incumbent, has acknowledged he is weighing a 2008 presidential bid.

1. If Romney runs for re-election
ask him to guarantee that he will serve out his term . . .

Only fair . . . :eyes:

let's make sure he doesn't have a term to serve out ...

there is no excuse for the Democratic Party to field such weak candidates that we keep electing republican governors ...
