Western MA (valley): possible stray cat. |
|
Anyone have recommendations for the best animal shelter to call?
There's a mostly black cat that seems to have nothing better to do at 1am in 45 degree weather than hang out outside the door of the 7-11 near the Sunderland/Amherst border on Rt 116. The guy at the counter says it's been doing so for weeks. No collar, so I'm guessing it's a stray.
Seems a bit skittish -- get within two feet and it turns and distances itself, but no hissing.
Surviving on handouts at a convenience store probably ain't going to work for it as the weather gets colder.
I can't take it in. My house is already subdivided so that tiny mood-swing-psycho kitty doesn't pick a fight it cannot win with the two large half-siamese fully clawed double-pawed sibling kitties each twice its size. That usually takes all of ten minutes to happen if they are in the same room.

1. Some humane shelters have policies not to put down any strays. |

It would be great if you could find one that it could stay while it is put up for adoption.

Hey, there, another Western MA Duer!
That 7-11 is quite close to the Dakin Animal Shelter in Leverett, which is a no-kill shelter. PM me if you need directions.

I'll look them up.
There are a few WM DUers actually. At some point we should have a meet & greet.
