7. A lifelong Massachusetts-er here.
Just want to mention that I'm proud of the work that my town's Democratic Committee has done regarding the "Patriot" Act.

Last week, a petition submitted by the DC to our Town Meeting to "affirm the civil rights and civil liberties guaranteed to its residents by the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts..." was passed almost unanimously!

8. What a day!
Can you believe how great the weather was yesterday? I know it hurt the runners, but it seems to have made all of the trees pop overnight!

Last week it was the flowering trees, and this week the wind is blowing green pollen everywhere. But it sure is pretty here in Mass!

10. the downside to spring
It's true, spring brings allergy season. I never had seasonal allergies till I moved to New England 3 years ago - grew up in northern CA. Anyone else have that experience?

11. It's the humidity and the fact that everything blooms at once
or so it seems. Because of the humidity, many people have mold allergies here too. Today is pretty bad for me-the pollen is blowing everywhere, and nothing is helping. It's beautiful out but I had to close my windows. :-(

13. Hi everyone!
I just went into the ATA forum for no particular reason and found out about the state forums. If I hadn't done that, I probably wouldn't have known about them for quite a while. This is a great idea.

14. It's good to be back in Massachusetts!
I spent 15 lousy years (well, maybe they weren't ALL lousy!) in Southern California. Truth is, there is so much wrong with that place that it infuriates me. But I'll probably talk more about that stuff as time progresses. (Mostly about health, wealth and welfare, to start!)

I grew up in the bastions of liberality--Brookline and Jamaica Plain. As it happened, I lived on the same street as Michael Dukakis in Brookline for about 8 years (Perry Street). You get a really good feeling about people when you live in such a rarified atmosphere, without the stodgy, small-headed pinheads known as Republicans around. :D

Now, I'm living in Worcester. Not exactly the home of liberty, but I can't complain too much. The mayor and the state rep are very progressive Democrats, and the Kerry organization around here is excellent. I wanted to go to the convention in July, but since I probably won't be able to, we know one guy who will be a delegate from California. We're going to take him to Legal and show him what real seafood is like. (He lives inland, near Barstow, California)

I look forward to having great discussion with other Massachusettites about what we need to do here to keep freedom, liberty and progression alive. It's not an easy task, but Massachusetts is one up on the rest of the country--we got it right in 1972!!

39. Born in Chester MA, now a California'an
So Folks, I was born in Massachusetts, left when I was 14, lived in Chester, and for those who have no clue where that is, it's 20 miles west of Westfield on Route 20, you know, Westfield, Crescent Mills, then Russel, Huntington, Chester , onwards towards Beckett, Lee, and Pittsfield.
