Democrats gain in Oakland Co. politics

Thanks in no small part to the efforts of extremist right wing GOP state leader Betsy DeVos who is determined to push Oakland Co. voters into the waiting arms of the Democratic Party. Thanks Betsy! You're an idiot, but you're doing wonderful things for the future of the Michigan Democratic Party, so on behalf of all of us, I wish to extend a heartfelt thanks to you!

Oakland County continued its political transformation as Democrats scored victories Tuesday.
Democrats picked up four seats on the County Board of Commissioners, narrowing the lopsided Republican hold on the board from 19-6 to 15-10.

Before 1996, Republicans had dominated county politics since the 1960s, especially at the top of the ticket. But Oakland County has given majorities to Democrats Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Jennifer Granholm and John Kerry. Kerry's win in Oakland on Tuesday was slim -- about 3,000 votes -- but his coattails seemed to pull some Democrats onto the commission.

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson, who scored an easy victory over Green Party candidate Art Myatt, said he wasn't surprised by the Democratic success, in light of what some Republicans have done."I've said that all along that the far right wing of the party has done a very effective job of running moderate women out of the party into the waiting arms of people like John Kerry," he said.

With the population of Detroit shrinking, most of those people are relocting to Oakland. Oakland has so many ex-wayne county residents that its overwriting the amount of rich republicans.

Livingston county is the new GOP headquarters in Michigan. That place is so fascist its scary.
